Scalable Interior LCD System & Motion Design for In-Transit Displays
JULY 2026
— Tasked with defining a core interior transit LCD system for Digiwest with no initial visual direction from the company or its clients, the project evolved into an end-to-end UX, visual, and motion design system. Built around an animated route spine, the framework was engineered to absorb changing client data requirements while seamlessly adapting to any brand identity.

Project Overview
Commissioned by Digiwest to build a flagship interior bus display template, the project began with zero visual guidelines. Every aesthetic, layout, and structural rule was established from scratch. The core design centers on an animated route "spine" that dynamically tracks live vehicle progress, upcoming stops, and transfer points.
As scope expanded with additional client screen requests, the modular architecture was adapted to scale gracefully without cluttering the UI. Motion dynamics and timing logic were carefully designed to ensure route animations and screen transitions remained smooth, non-distracting, and high-contrast on a moving vehicle.
As scope expanded with additional client requests, the modular architecture was continuously adapted to support multi-screen flows without cluttering the interface. Motion dynamics and transition timing were carefully calibrated to guide passenger attention smoothly while keeping real-time stop updates instantly readable.
"The design strategy centered on turning real-time route progress into a fluid, high-contrast visual system built for passengers in motion."
Final Design
The layout relied on strict visual hierarchy, prioritizing upcoming stops and real-time route progression for quick scanning anywhere in the bus. Typography, line spacing, and color contrast were calibrated for moving environments, ensuring effortless scannability under shifting interior lighting conditions.
To ensure the system could scale seamlessly for future Digiwest clients, flexible layout rules and modular color structures were established. The final result delivered a robust, highly adaptable digital signage framework that simplifies client onboarding while maintaining a clean, cohesive user experience across different transit networks.
